Kernel Source code now available for Moto X (2014) and Moto G (2014)

Kernel source for Motorola Moto X 2014
Are there enough custom ROMs out there for your new Moto X (2014) and Moto G (2014)? Of course not, but that will change soon, as Motorola has just released the kernelsource code for both devices for the Android 4.4.4 KitKat build.
As I am sure many of you already know, Android is based on an open source platform, requiring that the source code for generated builds be returned to the community. It can then be poked and prodded and even re-packaged with a few tweaks for you to install on your devices.
The kernel source code is available through Motorola‘s developer GitHub, completely browsable, and can be downloaded as a single compressed archive.
While many popular ROM developers build their software off of the AOSP release of Android, most manufacturers work with, and therefore most consumers run, Google’s Android. The process of flashing a custom ROM to device is not really for the average user, and the ability to take source code and build a functioning ROM is even less mainstream.
Behind all these ROMs is the kernel, the core of the OS that makes it possible for the apps we play with to interact with the hardware of our devices. The release of the Moto X (2014) and Moto G (2014) kernel source code means that ROM developers no longer have to build their own drivers and other core hardware controlling software. This is what Open Source is all about, we all work together, share our accomplishments and make for a better experience for all.
If you are up for creating ROMs for the Moto X (2014) or the Moto G (2014) head on into the Motorola GitHub and grab your copy of the kernel source code. Once in there, theMoto X is under codename “Victara” and the G goes by “Titan.”
What will be the first custom ROM you install on your new Moto X (2014) or Moto G (2014)?
