Google’s Project Tango is now available on the Play Store (sans price and inventory)

Whoever surmised that the best things in life are free clearly wasn’t thinking about Android tablets. These days there are countless numbers of affordable, low spec tablets. There are also a fair number of high-end devices as well, including the Galaxy Tab Sseries and HTC’s new Nexus 9. But what about the stuff dreams are made of? Not even the iPad can merge fantasy with reality in such a fashion.
Enter Google’s Project Tango. No, not the forgotten feline, the titillating tablet with 4GB of RAM, an NVIDIA K1 processor, 128GB of storage, 7-inch 1920X1200 display, and enough motion and mapping sensors to render even Hampton Court child’s play. The tablet, which spec-wise is everything Google should be offering Nexus owners but isn’t, had previously been available to an extremely limited lot, and sold for the price of $1024 at this year’s Google I/O event.
Well, it seems Google is now selling Project Tango on its official website…minus the sale part at least. A project page has been created for the device, offered in a black or white, though no pricing or availability is given. Eager purchasing potentials might want to note the, er, note found below the missing price: the tablet is not privy to any warranty or returns.
For a better idea of what to expect from Tango, check out our interview and demo from Google I/O:
There doesn’t seem to be any indication as to when Project Tango will waltz with the wallet, however if Google has created a product page then presumably it shouldn’t be too long. Unfortunately we can only guess as to the cost and quantity, so those looking for the non-existent Nexus 7 2014 edition may want to keep their eyes peeled, and wallets ready. Just make sure you’re comfortable nestling with Nestlé as the tablet currently runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
