Create Any Windows Shortcut You Want

Have you ever wanted to do everything in Windows with a simple key combination? This trick will let you open, say google, with a key combination of Alt+G or Ctrl+G or anything else of your choice.

This will barely take 2 minutes to learn.

There is this very simple tool called Autohotkey. This tool does the following things:
  1. Define hotkeys for the mouse and keyboard, remap keys and buttons and autocorrect-like replacements.
  2. It can create standard Graphical User Interfaces with controls for entry presentation.
  3. Parse feeds from a variety of sources for processing and manipulation with regular expressions.

The above image, shows one such usage.

Say, you are sending an email to someone and you end with a signature at the end which is routine. Why write it every time? Instead just automate it.
Pressing "Ctrl + Alt +S" will add your signature to the Email.
Also, "btw", will expand to "by the way". There are many such uses.

How Is It Used?

To use autohotkey, follow these steps:
  1. Install Autohotkey from here: Autohotkey
  2. Right-click an empty spot on your desktop or in a folder of your choice.
  3. In the menu that appears, select New -> AutoHotkey Script. (Alternatively, select New -> Text Document.)
  4. Type a name for the file, ensuring that it ends in .ahk. For example: Test.ahk
  5. Right-click the file and choose Edit Script.
  6. On a new blank line, type the following:
      #space::Run www.google.com

In the line above, the first character "#" stands for the Windows  key; so #space means holding down the Windows key then pressing the  spacebar to activate the hotkey. The :: means that the subsequent  command should be executed whenever this hotkey is pressed, in this case  to go to the Google web site. To try out this script, continue as  follows:
  1. Save and close the file.
  2. Double-click the file to launch it. A new icon appears in the taskbar notification area.
  3. Hold down the Windows key and press the spacebar. A web page opens in the default browser.
  4. To exit or edit the script, right-click the green "H" icon in the taskbar notification area.
There it is. You have just used the Windows Key+Space to open google.com.

More Examples

  1. Launching a Program or document
The Run command is used to launch a program, document, URL, or shortcut. An Example is:

A hotkey can be assigned to any of the above examples by including ahotkey label. In the first example below, the assigned hotkey is Win+N, while in the second it is Control+Alt+C:

The above examples are known as single-line hotkeys because each  consists of only one command. To have more than one command executed by a  hotkey, put the first line beneath the hotkey definition and make the last line a return. For example:
  2. Manipulating Files and Folders
To add text to the end of a file (or create a new file), use FileAppend as shown in the following example. Note that it uses `n (linefeed) to start a new line of text afterward:

To overwrite an existing file, use FileDelete prior to FileAppend. For example:

Some of the other commonly used file and folder commands are:
FileRead: Read the entire contents of a file into a variable.
    File-reading Loop
: Retrieve the lines in a text file, one by one.
    IfExist
: Determine whether a file or folder exists.
    FileSelectFile
and FileSelectFolder: Display a dialog for the user to pick a file or folder.
    FileDelete
/FileRecycle: Delete/recycle one or more files. UseFileRemoveDir to delete an entire folder.
    FileCopy
/FileMove: Copy/move one or more files. UseFileCopyDir/FileMoveDir to copy/move an entire folder.
    Files-and-folders Loop
: Retrieve the files and folders contained in a folder, one at a time.
    FileSetAttrib
and FileSetTime: Change the attributes or timestamp of one or more files.
    IniRead
, IniWrite, and IniDelete: Create, access, and maintain standard-format INI files.
    RegRead
, RegWrite, RegDelete, and Registry Loop: Work with the Windows registry.
  3. Graphical User Interface
The GUI options are a bit lengthy, so I would like to link the documentation here, rather than typing it here. So here is the documentation: GUI

There are many more uses. The possibilities with this tool are truly vast. On a concluding note, I would like to give some scripts here:
  1. AutoHotkey Script Showcase
These scripts have been submitted to the official site and there are many scripts on this link. The description is given on the page itself.
  2. Show Us Your Best AutoHotkey Script
See the comments on this lifehacker page. They contain some gems.

Next 'Android L' To Enable Full Disk Encryption By Default

The search engine giant Google will soon come up with its next version of Android operating system, dubbed as Android L, with full-disk encryption enabled by default, Google confirmed Thursday.

This will be for the first time that Google’s Android OS will be encrypting your information, preventing both hackers and law enforcement agencies from gaining access to users’ personal and highly sensitive data on their devices running the Android operating system.

While Android has been offering data encryption options for some Android devices since 2011. However the options are not enabled by default, so users have had to activate the functionality manually. But Android L will have new activation procedures that will encrypt data automatically.

Although Google is yet to provide more details about Android L, which is set to be released next month. But the move by the web giant will surely provide an extra layer of security on the personal data that users typically have on their Android Smartphones.
“For over three years Android has offered encryption, and keys are not stored off of the device, so they cannot be shared with law enforcement,” a spokeswoman for the company Niki Christoff has told The Washington Post. “As part of our next Android release, encryption will be enabled by default out of the box, so you won't even have to think about turning it on.”
Google’s announcement for by default encryption comes a day after Apple revealed that it is expanding its two-factor authentication process to include the iCloud storage system, which was recently targeted by hackers to extract over 100 nude celebrities photos.

Meanwhile, Apple also announced that the latest version of its mobile operating system iOS 8 are protected by new automatic encryption methods that prevent even Apple from accessing its users’ personal and sensitive information.
"Unlike our competitors, Apple cannot bypass your pass code and therefore cannot access this data," Apple said in its new privacy policy, updated on Wednesday. "So it's not technically feasible for us to respond to government warrants for the extraction of this data from devices in their possession running iOS 8."
Android is the most popular operating system for Smartphones in the world. So, by making the platform more secure, billions of Android users personal data can be protected from hackers as well as law enforcement agencies.

Technology titans are considering encryption a top priority in the wake of revelations by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden that the NSA conducted mass collection of users’ phone and email communications. Till this new release of Android L operating system, if you want to set up encryption on your Android phone today, Google has instructions here.

Android Winning War Against Apple

By "Kunal Vohra", Director@H2K

SAN FRANCISCO: Holly Riggle, a 29-year-old white-collar worker from Ohio, is just the kind of everyday customer Apple would love to have for its new iPhone 6.

But Riggle is sticking to her Android smartphone, calling Apple less "original" than it was under former CEO Steve Jobs. She's one of the 16% of respondents in a Reuters/Ipsos poll who said Apple had become somewhat or much less cool in the last two years.

By comparison, some 11% of respondents said that Android had lost some sheen in the same timeframe. In a similar poll a year ago, 14.3% of 1,379 people surveyed thought Apple had lost its cool image between 2011 and 2012.

While still a juggernaut, with analysts expecting sales of around 9 million iPhone 6s in its launch weekend, Apple may be losing some of its shine, according to the poll.

More Americans feel that Apple has lost its "coolness" quotient than has the Android brand, according to the poll, conducted September 8-13.

When questioned on how they perceive five popular technology brands — Apple, Android, Microsoft, Dell and Hewlett-Packard — respondents gave the highest coolness factor rating to the Android brand, which includes devices such as Samsung and others that run on Google's mobile operating software.

About 50% said that in the last one to two years, the Android brand had grown cooler, compared with 48% who voted for Apple.

Although the poll is based on a limited sample, it reflects how Android products, which tend to be less expensive, have caused Apple to shed some of its buzz.
"Especially when you have competitors who are doing a lot of innovative things themselves and great advertising, it's not surprising that Apple doesn't have the same cachet and coolness that it once did," said Kevin Lane Keller, a branding expert and professor at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business.

The mobile phone wars have become a lot like politics, with battling Democrats and Republicans, said Rob Janoff, the designer of the Apple logo and an independent branding and design expert based in Chicago.

"You can't carry that magic forever," Janoff said, but that does not mean consumers should dismiss mature brands. "I think people have to accept that companies that are out there, they age."

Last year when it launched its previous version of the iPhone, Apple sold 9 million iPhone 5Ss and 5Cs in the first three days in stores. But drawing a comparison with the iPhone 6 is tricky as sales are based on availability, and Apple has not shared comparable details.

Also, this time iPhone is not launching in China on Friday, unlike last time, Shannon Cross, an analyst with Cross Research, explained.

Many customers will need to wait until next month for their new iPhones after Apple logged a record 4 million first-day pre-orders, double the number for the iPhone 5 two years ago.

Errand-service TaskRabbit said more than 500 people in the US and London have hired individuals at $25 an hour to stand in line at Apple stores to grab the new iPhone, up 43% from requests during iPhone 5 launch two year ago.

Apple's iPhone is "easily broken and expensive to fix," said Jim Jackson, a 55-year old from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, who participated in the survey.

"Apple is following Samsung at this point in terms of design," Jackson added. "A couple of years ago they were making fun of Samsung because Samsung grew big and now they've gone big," he said, referring to the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6-Plus that had hit store shelves on Friday.

That was the only area where Riggle saw innovation at Apple.

"The only new idea they've come up with is that they're adjusting the size of their products," she said.

Kim Kardashian and Others Nude photos Leaked

By "Kunal Vohra", Director@H2K

So far people have not forgotten about the recent celebrity iCloud hacking scandal, a new wave of nude photographs of celebrities have been leaked in what appears to be the second edition of the massive leak related to the celebrities intimate-images on Internet earlier this month.

Among the victims of the most recent leak were reality television star Kim Kardashian, 33, actor Vanessa Hudgens, 25, and U.S. national women’s soccer team goalie Hope Solo, 33. Mary-Kate Olsen, Avril Lavigne, Hayden Panettiere, Lake Bell, Leelee Sobieski and former Disney stars Aly and AJ Michalka are other potential victims of this hacking scandal.

A video of Aubrey Plaza and previously unreleased nude photographs of celebrities included in the last leak, such as Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence and The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco, were also released with the recent privacy breach.

The leaked Celebrity Photos first appeared Saturday morning on the image-sharing site 4Chan and were also posted by users on Reddit, but were quickly deleted by site administrators as part of their new copyright infringement policy.

This new release of high profile celebrity leaked nude photos comes just three weeks after naked photos of the Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and '100 other celebrities', including supermodel Kate Upton and the American actress Mary E Winstead, were published online as part of a massive celebrity nude photo leak.

The photos were allegedly obtained from an iCloud leak that made celebrities’ phones susceptible to hacking, multiple media reported. The alleged hacked nude photos were previously posted on the 4chan thread to earn bitcoins.

After the nude selfies began appearing on the Internet, Jennifer Lawrence, a three-time Oscar nominee who won for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, contacted FBI who are conducting investigations into the apparent widespread invasion of personal accounts thought to be connected to the iCloud service.

"This is a flagrant violation of privacy," Lawrence's publicist Liz Mahoney wrote in a statement."The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, said stars' iCloud accounts were compromised. He said that celebs were either victims of phishing attacks or had had their iCloud account hijacked because of hackers had guessed the security questions in an effort to obtain usernames and passwords.

The hackers targeted both Kardashian and Hudgens in past as well. The reality show star Kardashian was reportedly one of several stars who had personal information posted by hackers in 2013. Moreover, her sex tape with her then-boyfriend Ray J was leaked online in year 2007.

The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star has often shared revealing selfies and has posed nude for professional photo shoots.

Also in 2007, Hudgens was targeted in a nude photo scandal during her Disney days after starring in "High School Musical 2." Later she also apologized for posing for the racy pics.
