NIIT, EC Council launch course on ethical hacking

NIIT and EC Council India on Wednesday tied up to introduce a course on ethical hacking.




The two companies will jointly introduce a 50-hour course ‘Certified Ethical Hacker’ spread over 3 months.

Shivan Bhargava, Group President-Skills and Careers Group, NIIT, said, “According to an estimate, the country needs around 77,000 ethical hackers each year and we want to create a manpower pool of trained InfoSec professionals who will enter this space.”

Individuals who have around 1-3 years of experience and understanding of cyber infrastructure will be eligible for the course, which costs ₹34,500. The course, which will be taught at NIIT centres, also includes a module on Indian cyber law.

NIIT hopes to targetaround 15,000 learners for this course in 2-3 years.

Jay Bavisi, President, EC Council India, said, “The second phase of this partnership would offer courses on secured programming and cyber forensics, among others.”

Forbes ranks ethical hacking as the second highest paying job in the future. Bavisi adds, “Professionals entering this space could expect salaries to the tune of above ₹50 lakh.”

EC Council is a certification body for IT security professionals.
