Banglore girl beats Einstine in IQ test

Little did this 12-year-old Harry Potter fan know that she has an intelligence quotient higher than that of Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking, whose IQs were 160.
Neha Ramu has scored 162 in the Mensa IQ test, inducting her in the league of the top one per cent of the brightest people in the world. Neha, who was a student of Sri Aurobindo Memorial School in Banashankari, now studies at Tiffin Girls’ School in Kingston (England).
“I enjoy the attention I am receiving... but I do not feel any different from my friends,” Neha told Express. “As far as the IQ test is considered, I cannot say it was an academic success as no preparation was involved.”
Neha — a self-confessed Mathematics buff — moved to London in 2007 along with her doctor parents Jayashree and Ramu Muniraju. Neha’s genius was revealed when she cleared an entrance examination to a prestigious school with a score of 280 out of 280.
Does this make her feel different? “I spend my free time like any other normal girl. I like watching TV, playing Nintendo Wii, reading books — I am an ultimate Harry Potter fan — and swimming,” she says.
“It was unbelievable when I first got the news about her Mensa IQ over phone,” says her mother Dr Jayashree.
“I had to ask Neha to repeat her score again and again just to confirm if what I was hearing was right,” says her mother Dr Jayashree, who visits Bangalore often and stays at her parents’ house in BTM Layout.
When asked if their move to England had contributed to Neha’s talent, she said, “I would say the UK has made a difference. But regarding schooling and academic standards, I personally feel the Indian education system is the best and much higher when compared to the UK standards.”
Mensa was founded in 1946 on the principle of forming a collaborative society of intelligent people across the world. It is better known as the “High IQ society”. Those seeking a membership in Mensa have to clear the IQ test, which tests a wide range of skills to assess the intelligence of a student. In the UK, the average IQ stands at 100.
